MIRAI Leaders
Think. Speak. Lead.
Meet real leaders. Hear real journeys. Find your own voice.
Presented by MIRAI HANA
In Collaboration with the Japan-America Society of Hawaiʻi (JASH)
A monthly leadership program for students in Grades 4–10, with a middle school focus.
Maximum 10 students per session.
Why We Created MIRAI Leaders
MIRAI HANA began with hands-on Kids Job Experience Workshops connecting children with businesses and professionals across Hawaiʻi.
Through those experiences, we saw children discover new interests, gain confidence, and become excited about their futures.
But as our students grew, we realized they needed something more.
Not just another experience.
They needed time to:
ask deeper questions,
hear different perspectives,
reflect,
speak,
and begin thinking seriously about who they want to become.
That is why we created MIRAI Leaders.
It is the next step.
One Guest. One Real Journey. Ten Voices.
MIRAI Leaders is not a traditional lecture series.
Each month, students meet a leader from Hawaiʻi and hear the real journey behind their title:
the choices they made,
the challenges they faced,
the people who influenced them,
and the turning points that shaped their lives.
Students don’t just listen.
They ask questions directly, discuss ideas in a small group, reflect, and give a one-minute speech.
Our goal is simple:
Help students think more deeply about their own future—and discover their own voice.
Every Session Includes
Guest Conversation
Hear real journeys.
Ask questions directly.
Small-Group Discussion

One-Minute Speech

What Does Leadership Mean to You?
Every session begins with one question:
What does leadership mean to you?
We do not give students one answer.
They meet someone, hear their story, ask questions, exchange ideas, and reflect.
At the end, we ask again:
What does leadership mean to you NOW?

Leadership is not something students only learn about.
It is something they practice.
As students grow, they may have opportunities to participate in future MIRAI HANA programs as MCs, Student Leaders, Workshop Assistants, or Event Support.
Our Vision
We want students to leave MIRAI Leaders knowing:
I can ask meaningful questions.
I can listen to different perspectives.
I can speak with confidence.
I can make thoughtful choices.
My voice matters.
