Aliʻi Animal Hospital × MIRAI HANA – Kids Job Experience: Veterinarian Edition Our newest workshop report is now available! 🩺🐶 This special hands-on experience took place at Aliʻi Animal Hospital & Resort, where children stepped into a real veterinary clinic and experienced what it’s like to work as a veterinarian. Across two sessions, 24 children became Junior Veterinarians, learning how animal healthcare professionals care for pets, support families, and work as a team behind the scenes. Yesterday, our kids stepped into the world of a real animal hospital at Aliʻi Animal Hospital 🩺🐶🐱 @aliianimal They became junior veterinarians for the day — learning how to care for animals, trying suturing, examining tummies, and discovering what it really means to be a vet. Some children worked hard to stay patient and wait, some challenged themselves with suturing and incisions, and some realized that being a veterinarian takes focus, courage, and care. 💬 Kids’ Voices: “Being a vet.” “I learned how to be a veterinarian.” “Suturing my dog back together.” “Doing the jelly.” “Waiting was hard.” “Incisioning was difficult.” “I felt happy.” “I felt proud.” “I felt scary… but great.” “I want to be a veterinarian.” “I want to make stitches faster next time.” Watching them reflect in their own words — honestly, seriously, and with so much heart — was incredibly meaningful. We are so proud of every child who tried something new, felt big emotions, and stayed curious until the end. 🍜 Final Workshop Meeting at Kamitoku Ramen 🍜 Today, we held our final planning meeting for the upcoming Kids Job Experience Workshop – Ramen Shop Edition, taking place on Sunday, February 8 ✨ Together with Mr. Junichi Kamitoku (Owner) and Ms. You Conceicao (General Manager), we finalized the details to ensure children can experience what it’s truly like to work in a real ramen shop. With their backgrounds in entertainment and childcare, Junichi and You shared thoughtful ideas on how to guide kids through a professional kitchen — focusing on safety, teamwork, and engaging children in a fun, age-appropriate way. This workshop goes beyond cooking. Real job experiences for children growing up in Hawaiʻi. As a mother raising a 9-year-old child, I’ve come to think more deeply about what kinds of experiences children growing up in Hawaiʻi are actually able to encounter. Compared to Japan or the mainland, Hawaiʻi does not have many museums or hands-on learning opportunities for children. Because of that, I’ve always been concerned that a child’s experiences can easily depend on family environment or access to information. At the same time, Hawaiʻi is home to so many local businesses run by people with strong values and deep care for the community. Yet children rarely have the chance to truly learn about these businesses or the work they do. In a time when AI continues to advance, it feels even more important for children to step into real workplaces, hear directly from professionals, and feel the atmosphere of a company. What MIRAI HANA values is not helping children decide on a future dream, but expanding the choices they can imagine. So that children can learn about the Hawaiʻi they live in, and grow to love it even more. For children growing up in Hawaiʻi, we want to create small, but meaningful opportunities to experience the real world. Together with local businesses, we will continue building this space.

ハワイのこどもたちに、 リアルな仕事体験を。 私自身、9歳のこどもを育てながら、 このハワイで育つこどもたちが どんな体験に出会えるのかを 考えるようになりました。 日本やメインランドに比べて、 ハワイには 博物館や体験イベントが 多いとは言えません。 その中で、 家庭環境や情報量によって こどもたちの体験に 差が生まれてしまうことを ずっと気にかけてきました。 一方で、ハワイには 素敵な想いを持ち、 地域を支えている ローカル企業がたくさんあります。 でも、 こどもたちが そうした企業や仕事を 実際に知る機会は、 ほとんどありません。 AIが進化する時代。 だからこそ、 画面の中ではなく、 本物の現場に立ち、 プロの話を聞き、 会社の空気を感じる体験が これまで以上に大切だと感じています。 ミライハナが大切にしているのは、 将来の夢を決めることではなく、 選べる未来を増やすこと。 自分たちが住むハワイを知って、 もっと好きになれるように。 ハワイで育つこどもたちに、 小さくても、確かな体験のきっかけを。 これからも、 ローカル企業の皆さんと一緒に この場をつくり続けていきます。
