MIRAI HANA Kids Job Experience Workshop – Aquarist Edition

We are excited to welcome you to the MIRAI HANA Kids Job Experience Workshop – Aquarist Edition in collaboration with Waikīkī Aquarium!

Please review the following information before the workshop.

📅 Date & Venue

  • Date: Sunday, November 22, 2026

  • Check‑in Time: 9:10 AM – 9:30 AM

  • Workshop Time: 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM

  • Pick-up Time: 11:20 AM – 11:35 AM

  • Venue: Waikīkī Aquarium (2777 Kalākaua Ave, Honolulu, HI 96815)

    The meeting location is in front of the door next to the Aquarium entrance.
    Please refer to the photo for details.

✅ What to Bring & Important Notes

    • Please bring a water bottle for your child.

    • Please have your child wear or bring closed-toe shoes such as sneakers or Crocs, as we will be entering a behind-the-scenes area where closed-toe footwear is required.

    • Whenever possible, please have your child use the restroom before check-in.

    • If someone other than the person listed on the registration form will be picking up your child, please let us know at check-in.

    • This workshop is a drop-off program. Parents are kindly asked to drop off and pick up their child at the scheduled times.

    • Some portions of the workshop will take place in a special room and limited behind-the-scenes areas.

    • Parents may enter the Aquarium as regular visitors (admission required) and observe portions of the workshop where accessible.

🅿️ Parking

Parking is available via metered street parking along the park side of Kalākaua Ave.

📋 Tentative Schedule

Subject to slight changes on the day.

  • 9:10 – 9:30 | Check-in

  • 9:30 – 9:40 | Opening & Introduction
    Welcome, overview of Waikīkī Aquarium, and introduction to aquarist roles
    (Early arrivals may begin fish ID guide coloring)

  • 9:40 – 10:10 | Workshop 1: Behind-the-Scenes Invertebrates Program
    Collect water samples and explore aquarists’ morning duties

  • 10:10 – 10:25 | Water Quality Activity (pH Testing)
    Measure pH and prepare for fish identification using guides

  • 10:25 – 10:45 | Workshop 2: Junior Aquarist Mission (Gallery Tour)
    Identify resident fish using completed fish ID guides

  • 10:45 – 11:00 | Special Session: Hawaiian Monk Seal Talk
    Learn about animal care and training (operant conditioning) from a seal biologist

  • 11:00 – 11:15 | Seal Enrichment Observation
    Observe a real enrichment session

  • 11:15 – 11:30 | Closing, Reflection & Group Photo

  • 11:20 – 11:35 | Pick-up

Photos taken during the workshop will be shared within 3 days after the event.

A Google Drive album will be sent to the email address used during registration.

This applies only to families who selected "Yes" for photo/video permission on the registration form.

ワイキキ水族館とのコラボレーションによる、MIRAI HANA こども仕事体験ワークショップ「水族館飼育員編」へようこそ！

当日に向けて、以下の内容をご確認ください。

📅 開催日・会場

  • 日付: 2026年11月22日（日）

  • チェックイン: 9:10 AM – 9:30 AM

  • ワークショップ: 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM

  • お迎え: 11:20 AM – 11:35 AM

  • 会場: ワイキキ水族館 (2777 Kalākaua Ave, Honolulu, HI 96815)

  • 待ち合わせ場所は、水族館入口横にあるドアの前です。
    詳細は写真をご確認ください。

✅ 持ち物と注意事項

    • 水筒をご持参ください。

    • バックヤードエリアに入るため、つま先の覆われた靴（スニーカーやCrocsなど）を履く、またはご持参ください。

    • 可能であれば、チェックイン前にお手洗いをお済ませください。

    • 登録フォームに記載された方以外がお迎えに来られる場合は、チェックイン時に必ずお知らせください。

    • 本ワークショップはドロップオフ制です。保護者の方は、指定時間に送迎をお願いいたします。

    • 一部のプログラムは、特別な部屋やバックヤードエリアで実施します。

    • 保護者の方が一般来館者としてご入館された場合（別途入館料が必要）、見学可能なエリアに限り一部のプログラムをご覧いただけます。

    駐車場は、カラカウア通りの公園側にある有料ストリートパーキングをご利用いただけます。

  • 9:10 – 9:30 | 受付

  • 9:30 – 9:40｜オープニング・水族館紹介
    ワイキキ水族館の概要と水族館飼育員の仕事について学びます
    （早く到着した場合は、魚図鑑のぬりえを開始できます）

  • 9:40 – 10:10｜ワークショップ① バックヤード体験（無脊椎動物）
    水の採取など、飼育員の朝の仕事を体験

  • 10:10 – 10:25｜水質チェック体験（pH測定）
    pHを測定し、魚観察に向けた準備

  • 10:25 – 10:45｜ワークショップ② ジュニア水族館飼育員ミッション
    館内ツアーで魚図鑑を使いながら魚を探します

  • 10:45 – 11:00｜特別セッション：ハワイアンモンクシール
    飼育員から動物のケアやトレーニングについて学びます

  • 11:00 – 11:15｜アザラシ観察

  • 11:15 – 11:30｜まとめ・ふりかえり・集合写真

  • 11:20 – 11:35 | お迎え

写真は、お申し込み時にご登録いただいたメールアドレス宛にGoogle Driveアルバムとしてお送りします。
