MIRAI HANA Kids Job Experience Workshop – Marine Biologist Edition

We are excited to welcome you to the MIRAI HANA Kids Job Experience Workshop – Marine Biologist Edition in collaboration with the Hawaiʻi Institute of Marine Biology (HIMB)!

This special program will take place on Moku o Loʻe (Coconut Island) in Kāneʻohe Bay. Please review the following information carefully before the workshop.

📅 Date & Venue

Date: Saturday, November 7, 2026
Check‑in Time: 9:30 AM – 9:45 AM
Please arrive for check-in between 9:30 and 9:45 AM. Please do not arrive earlier than 9:30 AM. Late arrivals may not be able to participate due to the boat schedule.
Workshop Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Pick-up Time: 12:20 PM – 12: 35PM
Meeting Location: Top of Lilipuna Pier by the closed guard rail
46-007 Lilipuna Road, Kāneʻohe, HI

A HIMB guide will be at the meeting point to assist with drop-off and direct participants.

After check-in, children will travel by boat from Lilipuna Pier to Moku o Loʻe (Coconut Island), where the Hawaiʻi Institute of Marine Biology is located.

The boat ride is approximately 2 minutes each way. MIRAI HANA staff will accompany the children, and participants will wear life jackets during the boat ride.

✅ What to Bring & Important Notes

- Please bring a water bottle. A bottle with a strap or another option your child can comfortably carry is recommended.
- A hat, sunscreen, and insect repellent are recommended.
- Please have your child wear comfortable walking shoes suitable for outdoor pathways.
- We recommend comfortable clothing appropriate for an outdoor island environment.
- Restrooms are available on the island, but we recommend using the restroom before check-in whenever possible.
- Please limit belongings to items that your child can carry and manage independently. Staff will not be able to carry or hold personal belongings for participants.
- If someone other than the person listed on the registration form will be picking up your child, please let us know at check-in.
- This workshop is a drop-off program. Parents will not travel to Moku o Loʻe with the group.
- Participants will need to board and exit a small boat and walk on pier steps, hills, and both paved and unpaved pathways.
- Since the entire group will travel by boat together, please arrive on time.

🚗 Parking & Drop-Off

Parking at Lilipuna Pier is not available for workshop participants.
This is a drop-off and pick-up only location. Please drop off your child between 9:30–9:45 AM and follow the directions provided by HIMB staff at the meeting point.

- Learn about marine biology and marine science
- Discover how HIMB scientists study and protect Hawaiʻi’s marine environment
12:00 – 12:20 | Closing, Return Preparation & Boat Transfer from Moku o Loʻe
12:20 – 12:35 | Pick-up at Lilipuna Pier

A Google Drive album will be sent to the email address used during registration. This applies only to families who selected “Yes” for Photo/Video Permission on the registration form.

⚠️ Important Safety Note

Moku o Loʻe is an active research and education facility and includes outdoor pathways, hills, pier steps, and boat transportation.

For everyone's safety, children must stay with the group and follow instructions from HIMB educators and MIRAI HANA staff at all times.

この度は、ハワイ大学海洋生物学研究所(HIMB) × MIRAI HANA のワークショップにご参加いただきありがとうございます！

今回のプログラムは、カネオヘ湾に浮かぶ Moku o Loʻe（Coconut Island） にあるHIMBで開催します。

当日に向けて、以下の内容を必ずご確認ください。

📅 開催日・会場

日付: 2026年11月7日（土）
チェックイン: 9:30 AM – 9:45 AM
チェックインは9:30〜9:45の間にお越しください。9:30より前の到着はご遠慮いただけますようお願いいたします。船の出発時間の都合上、到着が遅れた場合はご参加いただけない可能性がありますので、ご了承ください。
ワークショップ: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
ピックアップ：12:20 PM – 12: 35PM
集合場所： Lilipuna Pier上部・閉鎖されたガードレール付近

集合場所にはHIMBスタッフが待機し、子どもたちをご案内します。
チェックイン後、Lilipuna Pierから専用ボートで、HIMBのある Moku o Loʻe（Coconut Island） へ移動します。
船での移動は片道約2分です。MIRAI HANAスタッフも一緒に乗船し、子どもたちは乗船中ライフジャケットを着用します。

✅ 持ち物と注意事項

- 水筒をお持ちください。できればストラップ付きなど、お子さま自身で持ち歩けるものをおすすめします。
- 帽子・日焼け止め・虫よけのご使用をおすすめします。
- 島内を歩くため、歩きやすい靴でご参加ください。
- 屋外での活動に適した動きやすい服装でお越しください。
- 島内にもトイレはありますが、可能な限り集合前にトイレを済ませておいてください。
- お荷物は、お子さまご自身で管理・持ち歩けるもののみにしてください。スタッフがお子さまのお荷物をお預かりしたり、持ち歩いたりすることはできません。
- 登録フォームに記載された方以外がお迎えに来られる場合は、チェックイン時に必ずお知らせください。
- 本ワークショップはDrop-off形式です。保護者の方は島へ同行しません。
- 小型ボートへの乗り降り、桟橋の階段、坂道、舗装・未舗装の道を歩く場面があります。
- グループ全員で船に乗って移動するため、時間厳守でお願いいたします。
🚗 駐車・送迎について
Lilipuna Pierの駐車場は、ワークショップ参加者はご利用いただけません。
集合場所では送迎（Drop-off / Pick-up）のみとなります。9:30〜9:45の間にお子さまをお送りいただき、集合場所にいるHIMBスタッフの案内に従ってください。
